FAQ and More Information

Why does inclusivity matter so much?

To invite more integrity and compassion into our lives as women, it's important to align ourselves with those with integrity and goals of equality for all.

These articles describe the intolerance that we are hoping to side step, and not lend our support to, with our independent march, and the problems that appeared with original Women's March Inc. leaders.

For more on who's who in the "inclusivity" movement, see our "Who's Who" page.

Many national equality organizations have walked away. This thread outlines much of it (click). Including:

SPLC, Emily's List, AFL-CIO, NARAL,GLAAD, Human Rights Campaign, NRDC, OXFAM, Greenpeace, Amnesty International

300 have left out of the more than 500 original sponsors.

Where is it?

We're in Area 12 of the Capital Grounds. That area is between Constitution, Pennsylvania, and 3rd Street, NW..

We have very good visibility. There's foot traffic from the Capital and Union station, as well as from the Mall. We are directly visible to the busy Constitution Avenue motor traffic.

For restrooms, food and other needs, Union Metro Station is a couple of blocks away.

Quickview:

Can I help? YES!!!

We need:

- Our media alert to be emailed, faxed, sent, tweeted, to any D.C. or national media you can think of. During the event, video, photo and send to them too.

- During the event, we need greeters. About 20 mins in, we need a couple "counters" to estimate how many people are present (and let the organizers know.)

- Chanters, singers and enthusiasm. The organizers are kind of "soft-voiced", so we really need your noise!

- Photo and video takers - to send us afterward, so we can continue to send to media.

- Manage our twitter feed and facebook - post and reply to others.

- There are more needs :), ask us.

What can we bring? What are the safety restrictions?

The Capital Police regulations prohibit the following potential weapons on Capital Grounds:

https://www.uscp.gov/visiting-capitol-hill/regulations-prohibitions/prohibited-items

There is no solicitation or selling on Capital Grounds:

https://www.uscp.gov/visiting-capitol-hill/regulations-prohibitions/no-advertising-us-capitol-grounds

Signs, Banners, and Placards are permitted with limitations:

Supports for these must not exceed 3/4 inch at their largest part, have dull ends and can not be construed in any way as a weapon. No nails, screws or bolt-type fasteners protruding from the supports.

A method: roll paper at an angle tight. Use that as the post. Another idea, put signs around your neck on a string.

Additional regulations for the Capital Grounds can be found online. The areas nearby, such as the Mall and roads, are regulated by the National Park Service, and the Metropolitan Police. Please see their websites for the regulations of those areas.
